What's the process of buying a home with The Herring Group?
We start by understanding what you actually need, then set up a search and tour homes together. Once you find the one, we handle the offer, negotiation, inspections and closing — and we're reachable the whole way through, not just at the showing.
Can you sell my home even if I've never met you before?
Yes. Most of our sellers start with a simple valuation request through this site. We tour the home, agree on pricing, and take it from there — no long-term commitment required to get an honest number.
Is there a fee to use The Herring Group's services?
Buyer representation is free to you — we're paid through the standard real estate commission structure at closing. Seller commissions are discussed and agreed upfront, in plain language, before you sign anything.
How do you determine a home's value?
We study recent comparable sales, current inventory, and the specific condition and features of your home — not an automated algorithm. A real person prepares every valuation.
Do you help with waterfront or Lake Murray properties?
It's one of our specialties. Docks, seawalls, water depth and Dominion shoreline permits all factor into a waterfront sale or purchase, and we walk clients through each one.
What documents do I need to get started?
For buyers, a lender pre-approval letter helps us move fast when the right home appears. For sellers, nothing is required to request a valuation — we'll tell you what's needed once you decide to list.
